A little bit about Bucura...
I started Bucura in 2010 out of my love for wearing unique clothing and my passion for art. The vision for the company originated as a result of too many stress-filled corporate workdays, where finding a moment of enjoyment was limited. That's when I began to channel my artistic flair in a different way....as a means to relax and save my sanity after those crazy weeks that we have all experienced! Sewing machine and serger in hand, I began to create various chic eco-couture fashions. I was humbled and flattered to receive so many compliments on my wearable art that I knew these unique pieces would bring enjoyment to others. Thus, I named the company Bucura...which means "Enjoy".
My wish is that each piece of Bucura wearable art brings a touch of enjoyment to your day.
Each piece of Bucura wearable art is created from something that has had a previous life. Take a look….you might see pieces from a beloved sweater, a jacket out-grown, or a suit that totally went out-of-style. Whatever the source, be assured that I have rescued that item and restyled it into an original piece of wearable art. Every Bucura piece is an inspired original and unique, just like the person who will enjoy wearing it!
Bucura strives to be at a zero-waste level when creating wearable art pieces. You may be surprised to know that each year, American textile waste accounts for over 3.3 million tons of the solid waste stream. Through my use of recycled textiles, Bucura is able to lessen that environmental footprint within the United States.
In addition, Bucura takes “green measures” as a means to reduce my own corporate footprint:
- Use of high-efficiency machines to lower energy and water level usage
- Use of biodegradable, concentrated, phosphate-free, and dye-free laundry soap
- Various materials and buttons are up-cycled into one of my other products
Very little of the original textile goes to waste. Look at my products to see where I might have restyled something from its original purpose!!
